In Memory of Chicken Bob

Chicken Bob was the chicken that got broody last year and hatched Chicklet. I got her from 4H when Kathy, an abandon chick, I adopted needed a friend. As a chick she let anyone pick her up and had no fear response. She was named after my cat Bob who was a little off because of epilepsy.

Feeding Chicken Bob

Chicken Bob was a lap chicken and would sit in your lap if you had treats. She died in her sleep and we buried her today. I will miss her.

A Wonderful Gift

I have a tradition of decorating gingerbread houses at Thanksgiving. In 2019 it was too hectic to get them decorated. Instead I decorated them at Christmas. With the pandemic this year was more difficult. A beautiful lady made me a gingerbread kit for Christmas. It was full of detail and love.

It even had candy windows and tea lights. It is the fanciest house I have built. Two chimneys, a door with a star window and a gable. I was careful assembling it.

I left the door open, because the door to my house is always open to family and friends. Although I have built gingerbread houses for decades, I don’t have much practice decorating them. I made them for the kids to decorate starting when Andrew was about 6. Everyone had a side to work on. With the grandkids I started to do villages instead of a single house. Everyone had there own house. Olivia was so creative decorating hers. It was wonderful to see them grow up. Mina and her friend Maddie had fun doing houses. Becky andI got to decorate them in 2018. It was the first time we both had a house to work on. Last Christmas I decorated a village with friends. It is always great fun to share the activity. With the pandemic this year it was nice to have a house to decorate. I think it turned out nice. I really like the candy stained glass windows. You can see the tea light shining through one.

Christmas dinner

The one thing 2020 has done is moved me to try other meats based on what I can order on line for pick up. This Christmas I got a rib roast and learned how to cook it. It was wonderful. I always got the roast my mom used and did not try others. It roasted potatoes and carrots with it.

Merry Christmas to all

Christmas Eve 2020

The stockings are hung by the chimney with care.

The gifts are all sent and should already be there.

Love is sent to all, missing those not here.

In heaven we’ll meet with more hugs to share.

The deaths this year have touch me with a profound sense of loss.

Christmas Art

On of the little girls from church gave me this drawing. It. Was very sweet. Reminds me of how much I miss my granddaughters, Mina and Lily

Love lives here

This was the final touch on our Christmas decorations. I expect it will be a socially distanced Christmas. I decorated like always, so family and friends know that love lives here and they are missed.

Amazing rainbow

I was out delivering a washing machine for Community of Hope, a non-profit I volunteer with. As I was driving up US 1 there was the start of a rainbow forming over the river.

It was just an unformed mass of color.

It became a vibrant half rainbow.

It grew into a full rainbow and was beautiful. A promise from God.

Beautiful day

We went for a bike ride today down A1A to Sebastion. It was wonderful. We stopped at a beach side park by the Sea turtle preservation lab. The ocean was so amazing to watch.

The sea grass against the blue sky reminded me of my cousin Ray’s wife She had such a love for nature. I miss her greatly .
